Frequently Asked Questions

How are the tree locations visualized on the grid?

The tool uses the azimuth and distance data from the CSV file to plot each tree's location on a Cartesian grid.

What format should the CSV file be in?

The CSV file should have columns named 'plotnum', 'treenum', 'azimuth', 'distance', 'code', and 'diameter'. The order of the columns does not matter. Below is an example screenshot of how your CSV file should look:

Can I download the visualized data?

Yes, after uploading the CSV file, you can download the generated plot visualizations individually or as a ZIP archive.

How do I interpret the legend items on the plot?

Example legend screenshot

The legend provides a quick reference to understand the symbols used in the plot. Each shape or symbol represents a range of tree diameters, making it easy to visualize the distribution of tree sizes. Here's what the symbols mean:

Where can I get some test data to play around with?

Right here! Feel free to download this CSV file and use it for your own testing. Download Test Data

What does the 'Adjust for Overlapping Plot Points' checkbox do?

This option helps improve readability when trees are plotted very close together, which can cause their data labels to overlap.
By checking this box, the points are slightly separated to prevent overlap. However, be aware that this adjustment might
slightly alter the precise location of each tree on the grid, which could affect its use for navigational purposes.
